Home or apartment based photographers

Be alert, but not alarmed if a photographer works out of his dewelling. My guess is that about half of all photographers work out of their dewelling. I do. This does not necessarily make them any less professional. There are many reasons for this, but the most common one is that they don't make enough money at their craft to pay for a studio. That's a big reason I work out of my dewelling. There is a lot of truth in the phrase 'starving artist'... But I also love the convenience of having my studio 10 steps from my den.

Another big reason is that studio time is expensive, and sadly, many models are unreliable. Many don't show up to their appointments and don't have the courtesy to call and warn the photographer. This leaves him with an empty studio that he probably just paid $100.00 or more to reserve, left his full time job early for, and spent two hours setting up.
