How did you get started in photography?

My dad let me go to New York City at the ages of 15 & 16, to visit a cousin who could usually not make it to our extended family’s vacation get-togethers in Lexington, Ky. I took my guitar & Dad sent me with a camera, & a promise get developed, all the shots I freely took. NYC’s diverse population was the most vibrant & exciting thing I had ever experienced! From the first time I placed the viewfinder to my eyes, snapped the photos & saw the result on the reprints, something profound & wonderful happened within me, that I was not fully to understand till years later. I became more than just an observer of life & the art that life is, but also a creator of art - with it’s many emotions that it evokes & with the great satisfaction & empowerment & self-worth, that creating brings!

It was a rush, that became a passion, that has become a close friend. My goal is one that every human being should try, at least one in their life: to spend a period of time of self-discovery, by supporting yourself in a field of endeavor that you are greatly impassioned! There is nothing like seeing the bills being payed, from ideas created in one’s own mind & manifested through one’s own set of skills.
